Thank you 2018, but I’m ready for 2019!

2018 was a year of change for a lot of people, including me; I left my life in Finland behind and came to Japan (not knowing what was waiting for me).

It wasn’t easy at times and there was a point I was seriously considering if I’d made the right choice coming here or if Japan was really the country of my dreams, but I know I would’ve regretted it for the rest of my life.

In the end I’m so happy I did; I learned so much about myself and got so much confidence about life and myself during these 6 months. Living in a foreign country by yourself is definitely a growing experience, but it gives you so much in return as long as you’re willing to learn from it.

Now I’m in a completely different mindset for the new year; I’m sure 2019 is going to be something new and exciting. I have no idea what’s waiting for me or what I exactly want to accomplish during this year, but one thing I do know, and that is the fact that I want to stay in Japan.

As a way to look back and to the future here are a couple things that I accomplished and am grateful for 2018 – as well as what I expect from 2019.

Things I accomplished in 2018:
Found work in and moved to Japan.
Learned so much about myself and how to enjoy everyday life even more.
Realized how many amazing people I have in my life.

Thank you 2018!

Things that I want to make happen in 2019:
Find long-term work and stability in my life in Tokyo.
Find new hobbies and meet new people.
Take better care of myself (physically and mentally).

These are not new year’s resolutions, but I want to put these thoughts out into the world so that they will have some cosmic power behind them 🙂

Thank you for each and one of you who made 2018 one of the most transformative years of my life, and これからもよろしくお願いします!

Anni
